I think if a forest is up for lease and you get it then nobody
has the right to stop you taking it,I wouldn't shoot if I didn't
have permission. I wouldn't let it stop me

I would have no hesitation calling the police (whatever part of
the country i was in) if someone was trespassing with a firearm,
and I would let the police know car registration numbers etc.
i dont do it and i wouldn't dream of doing it, so why should
others think they have the right to do it !
trespassing with firearm = bye bye firearms

i had a mate who was in a forest shoot they had to give it up
cos of the locals who poached it on them the psni where for
nothing and these locals came by fields and never had a car
parked anywhere they just shot away and when sum1 appeared they
just filterd away into the trees and made 2 the surrounding
fields where they had permission the final straw was when the
poachers started 2 slash tyres on the cars and score the paint
work etc they just pulled the plug after that , there is sum
sneaky boys out there like a well knowen poacher my way who when
cornerd 1 day by the local shooting club in their shoot they
kept him there till the psni landed and first thing he did was
make a complaint that they had threated to kill him with their
guns so u guessed it he was let go and the 4 orther boys
arrested and guns taken took months before it was sorted and
their guns back

Right looks like I have nominated myself to do some of the work
on this. I have been speaking to Tommy from BASC who is
forwarding me all the info he can to help with this. I have read
through all the previous posts in this thread and tried to pick
out those who said they were interested. Apologies if if have
missed anyone or included those who dont wish to take the lease
at Gortnamoyagh. Let me know and I can add or remove anyone who
wishes. Here are the nominations for Shoot NI...
Sharpshooter (Insured)
Devil-bri (Insured)
Foxyloxy (Insured)
Secret Assassin (insurance pending)
Ricky W (Insured)
Salar6 (Insured)
Maboy41 (Insured)
Keith
Neilly
Fitzy (Insured)
Woodcock1 (Insured)
CJM (Insured)
CJM's Father (Insured)
If were to put in £30 a year each I think that might be enough
to secure the lease. If anyone wishes to take a section of the
shoot management plan and compile an answer feel free.
EDIT I would also need to know if everyone has their own
shooting insurance or do we need to look into a group insurance
policy (more money) If you Pm me Ill add if your insured to the
list.

The rest of this article appears in the 6th February issue of
Shooting Times.
Government pledges more money for forestry
England’s public forests will not be sold off and a new,
independent body will be formed to maintain and safeguard the
public forest estate, the Government has announced.
The Government planned to sell off public forests two years ago
but ditched the idea after 500,000 people signed a petition
opposing the move.
Environment secretary Owen Paterson said the new body “will have
greater freedom to manage its resources and maximise its income”
than the current set-up.
The Government has also promised to spend more money on forests
— an extra £3.5million will go to the Forestry Commission next
year to make up for the funds that would have comefrom sales of
woodland. An extra £2million will also help the ash dieback
outbreak. But the future of stalking on Forestry Commission land
is still undecided.
