Before anybody goes sending money anywhere, we (count me in)
would need to be successful with the tender. It doesnt
necessarily go to the person offering the most money. The
government aint that hard up for cash. You have to submit a
management programme, what you are going to bring to the forest,
and how you are going to benefit the forestry service. I
remember getting the forms and application pack and it was quite
daunting worse than applying for an FAC. Then It takes a long
time for them to select the successful candidate so it would be
near next season before any cash is required.

       Woodcock is right
It's not necessarily the highest bidder that gets lease ! It's
how well you present your case for taking it on
There must be an example on line somewhere on what you write and
what they want to hear !!

I presume they would probably want to hear suggestions like
fibre wad only and only insured shooters who respect
       conservation efforts are permitted etc?.

Would air rifles be allowed in. I could clear a few peskey grey
squirrels, allow a bit of regeneration of the lovely red, get
rid of a few corvids like magpies and allow the native song bird
       to regenerate etc etc.......

I think this would be a good time to make full use of our BASC
membership which we pay for. This is the type of benefit we are
entitled to and would really benefit from. An email to BASC
requesting a guide to being successfull. Id say we as a forum
would get full support from any of the big shooting groups.

they will definately love the whole culling grey squirrels.
  HTML http://www.sacs.org.uk/obj-779-sacs-takes-the-lead-in-grey-squirrel-control-in-ni
i was thinking about managing "memberships". it wouldnt be hard
to knock up some type of I.D card and have it laminated. Then
run a thread on here, whereby "members" would let others know
when they are going out i.e the night before and what vehicle
they will be in etc etc
