A section for home made or modified kit

What about a section for stuff you've made yourself, or bought
and modified ? I bought a big pile (24) of crow decoys very
cheap (£48.00 including express P&P for the 24)
Unfortunately they weren't flocked, and had no holes for stakes,
only a pair of plastic feet, so I sprayed them and drilled
holes, bout some stakes too. Total cost for 24 fully fledged
decoys was £66.00 all in. ;D
Lots cheaper than the flocked at £7.50-£8.50 each, and a lot
more durable, and I think better looking too
       And here's the finished result

Lol, the stakes still need painting, but they look better than
       the flocked ones ;D

Lol. I love making stuff myself, or modifying stuff. And the
amount of stuff that's broken and people have said bin it and
buy a new one (typically £20-£100.00 item, and yet with a little
thought and some readily available tools I've repaired it and
       got it working again lol.

Bought them off eBay, got 24 spring stakes for £11.00 ;D but
you do have to search, as some sellers ask the same price or
more for just 6, and often charge heavy P&P too

What is best type/ number of pigeon decoys to get and best
place. Need a few to get the pigeons to land where I want them
to. Using Superten as can't hit diddly with the shotgun!! ;D
       Thanks

Pigeons I use mostly shells. Flocked are good, but not necessary
and damage easy. If you get painted ones just ensure you have
some Matt grey and some Matt white paints, and you can touch
them up if they damage. Same with crows. I was always buying
flocked, but if they get wet and it freezes, the flocking comes
off, so now just buy plastic full bodied, and spray them Matt
       black, that works well too.
Really a MINIMUM of 6-12 decoys, but I use over 36 crow decoys,
and about the same pigeon decoys when I set up.
I also have floaters, a whirly or two, flappers etc.
Always change how the pattern looks, especially with crows, as
they tend to imprint on their brains any pattern where they've
been shot at and escaped from ???
