Guns stolen

Hi guys i recently had a burglary at my house! To cut a long
story short i was getting married and moving to a new house, i
took a .22 rifle out to shoot magpies the day before my wedding
as they were eating the dog food, the day of my wedding (next
day) thieves broke in and wrecked the place stole alot of stuff
and took the gun, it was in a gun safe but not attached to a
wall, with all the coming and goings i forgot to take it back to
registered address, now the police have taken my other firearms
and im not sure where i stand, any ideas or similiar stories?
Appreciate some feedback and NOT what i should or shouldnt have
done, believe me, i know now! Thanks!

Sorry to hear this. Terrible what has happend. I would def be
ringing and sending letters chasing this up.
I hope some1 can give u some legal advice and get the guns back
asap.
Let us know how everything goes. :'(

Ye thanks man, well i have been told not "to rock the boat"
just yet and see what happens as no decision has been made yet,
and if its worst case senario, then d the follow up as you said,
has anyone encountered something similiar not just subjective
opinion?

I hope it's not permenantly,
but because you failed to adequately secure the firearm in the
first place with the cabinet not being secured to the fabric of
the house and that the firearm was not at the registered address
whilst not under your control !
They will say you are not a responsible firearm holder
If you are a member of SACS or BASC get advice from them, but
from what you have written I think you are screwed
I hope sincerely hope I am wrong, but firearms branch are really
strict on things like this and will use any excuse to take your
guns

guy told me this happened to his mate only it was in a car, they
revoked his FAC but he got them back 5 years later, was actual
proof of things like this i was hoping for a response on, or if
any users had similiar instances were they knew of something
like this happening, thanks anyways!

The gun being kept in a house not registered on your FAC will be
the big stumbling block !
Ref the gun stole from the car, what were the circumstances, was
it in the car over night or was the gun being transported from A
to B and it was stole whilst car left unattended ? If that was
the case and the guy took all reasonable steps to secure and
hide it in the car, then he had a defence.
You don't really have an excuse for the rifle not being properly
secured or at an unregistered address while you were not there

sorry mate you must be gutted hope all works out for you
on the guns subject ,if you were in the process of moving to
that address and only there a day or two theres maybe a fighting
chance stating you had not go round to doing it ,if the address
is already being used by a FAC holder and you were using his
then this would put him in the sh@t
out of interest was the .22 a bolt action or auto as the bolt or
breech must not be stored together
again mate i feel for you hope you get them back

No he was out shooting but didnt take his gun with him, as he
was workig his young dog, anyways like i say i dont want to hear
what i should and shouldnt have done as i previously stated,
just if anyone has simliar stories or outcomes!
