goose shooting in scotland

well i went over a couple of weeks back to scotland to a place
called leslie to shot along with PIGEONSALLDAYLONG outfitters
mark robson was the guide
we had arranged for 2 morning and 2 evening flights for geese
the weather was poor the last fortnight was heavy rain the lots
of floods around for them to feed on so hard to nail them down
however mark did well the first morning in a large stubble field
we got in a drainage ditch ,at the start this was ok but after
30 mins its was like the trenches in the ww1 mud mud and more
mud
to make matters worst a gun arrived down the first flight with a
beretta EELL one of a matching pair (lets just say he spent more
time moaning and cleaning than shooting)

after the flight we returned to b&b for a late breakfast before
going out for a few hours pigeon shooting ,i have never seen so
big a flocks of pigeons in my life, so 2 hours later we had 44
pigeons all just flighting past us
the evening flight was on a spud field with a small flood 25
mtrs sq we pushed 30 greylags of hoping they would come back but
no first the whistles of wigeon and teal could be heard before
the geese started we had a great flight with 8 pinks in the bag
(sori no photos too interested in shooting )
2 days morning flight again in a small stubble field surrounded
by houses, factories and motorway we seen some large skeins of
pinkfeet go over most of the geese that came in were in small
flocks of 10 /20 these are far better than larger one less birds
scared after shooting and as you can see we were using sniper
suits suppied by mark ,surprising how many bits get caught in
the gun when getting ready to shoot the were a couple of
exchanges of good words lol

the last photo if you look carefully you will see about 300
geese landed towards the houses we never noticed a wounded goose
walking around there and it pulled in skein after skein while
we watched lol
that was another good flight and afterwards we went for a semi
driven pheasant and duck drive before the evening flight
last night flight see us at a small flooded field with a few
decoys placed out to bring the geese in we settle down to shoot
but after a while with no back light it was impossible to see
the ducks and geese come in ,but never the less we had another
great evening

total bag bag...well before the last evening flight and the game
dealer had already picked up some as well .

well i would recommend mark for all your shooting needs
including stalking aswell please visit his web page or facebook
WWW.PigeonsAllDayLong also as he is a firearms dealer he can
rent you a shotgun/rifle so you just fly to edinburgh and he
will pick you up

brilliant write up dc with great pictures, it's hard to believe
you'd get such good shootin so close to those houses and
factory's, I no nothin about goose shootin and I'd have thought
they'd like piece and quite. I have these guys as a facebook
friend so I'll keep an eye on what they get up to ;)

sori should of put price list up
wildfowling
morning flight £85 (goose)
evening flight £55 (mostly duck but some goose)
shooting
walked up pheasant days on large estate 25 per bird/duck £17
rough walked up ( on private estate) £230 no bag limit
driven days 100+ from £29 per bird 6 to 10 guns
we stayed with marks parents b&b £55 per night & evening meal
pigeons shooting..... £110 per day no limit all kit supplied
stalking..... please check web page as theres medal fees up to
£1000 for gold
boat cost £280 for the 2 of us
fuel £60 for a pajero lwb

dc maybe it's just me being a tight arse but I'd hate the
thoughts of payin that money for pheasants and pigeons, not sure
what the goin rate for ducks is, either way you've got pics of a
very memorable trip that you'll never forget :)
