gun cabinets/home security and interviews

Hi folks i'm looking a bit of advice regarding getting a pistol
put on my FAC. I have been told I might need a second safe to
store a pistol even though I have a gun cabinet for my air rifle
and will I be interviewed again by my FEO ?
I have also been told the FEO may ask for a house alarm to be
fitted
Thanks guys

Who told you that?
If you have a lockable box in your safe, that will suffice. It
depends on your area and the crime rate etc as to the level of
security you may be required to have. Check out the Home office
Firearms security handbook for firearms security guidance.
You may have another interview and security inspection update.
The FEO must do their job and inspect when they are told to
inspect by Firearms licensing.
Speak to your FEO directly and if in doubt about anything they
say, contact your Shooting Association for advice as well.

Neil I have been told by one gun dealer that I need another safe
and house alarm , but other dealers told me my cabinet is fine
to store a pistol and for home security the feo can only advise
you on home security like alarms ?

All too often the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is
doing. You will hear multiple rumours about the requirements,
but only your FEO will be able to properly advise you. Even
FEO's have different interpretations of legislation, but they
will be more clued up than anyone on here. My understanding is
that house alarms are not compulsory for pistols.

Wait to see what your FEO says. I have dealt with a number of
FEOs and some know their stuff and some not so much.
Have a look at the Home Office Firearms Security guidance That
is the go to guidance. Look at the levels of security
suggestions.
Remember, If in doubt check what the legislation says.
