CZ455 0.17 Delayed firing & cracked casings
By: John2000 Date: March 4, 2015, 4:33 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Hello
I got a new CZ455 0.17 HMR last week.
I have fired a box of Federal Premium ammo at this stage and
have noted the following:
At least 20 of the 50 used casings ended up with a crack in the
necked area of the casing.
Every 10 shots approx. I get a very short time delay before the
gun fires. What I mean is when I pull the trigger and nothing
happens, then the shot goes off. Its hard to quantify the time
delay but it feels less than 1 second. Also the recoil feels a
little more that it normally does.
Anybody else experience this?
Is this a problem with the firing pin/bolt in the rifle or could
the ammo be the problem.
Also, the cracked casing - is the barrel inner diameter
oversized or just poor ammo.
All replies welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Nothing wrong with yer gun mate.
Take the rest of the ammo & the split brass back to the dealer.
Your ammo is not safe to be using!

Thank you for the reply. Good to know there is nothing wrong
with the rifle.
All that batch have been fired at this stage but I will keep an
eye on the next batch I get.
In what way is this ammo dangerous - to me or the rifle - Can
the cracked casings cause any damage to the rifling?
Thanks. ;D

Thers a chance you could have a partial firing, ie when you pull
the trigger the bullet leaves the case & enters the rifling just
far enough for you to chamber another round behind it, if you
fire the second round - your in deep doo doo!

had the same problem a while ago, there was a batch of federal
ammo made and it was crap split casing and missfires and delays,
have shot thousands of rounds of it and never had a problem
since,
