Looking for range/club - Moira

Hi there,
I’m in the process of purchasing a Lever Action .22LR for vermin
control and adding this to my FAC. In the meantime I am looking
at getting some much needed experience of shooting a .22LR
(Helping to improve accuracy) and am looking at wanting to join
a target shooting club.
Can anyone recommend a club near the Moira area if possible?.
I've fired off a few e-mails to NITSA (Banbridge) and Downshire
Rifles Club, but haven't heard anything back
Could you please give me some more information about the club,
meeting times, cost ect? I am guessing that I would need to
use/rent a club rifle for a least a year before I could add
target shooting onto my FAC?
I'm also assuming that since I don't know anyone who is a member
of a club, it's going to be difficult to get membership?
Any information would be gratefully received.
Thanks for reading.

I went down and visited the downshire club. Decent bunch. a
couple of them took the time to show me round and explain the
competition cards and scoring. They do have rifles to borrow
but the fella who holds them wasn't about. I emailed from the
site and got email back a few days later from alan who i think
is chair or secretary. I actually went twice 1st night was a
prone so there wasn't many about to talk about the air rifles
that im after, but fella still was friendly and helpful.
Next night was excellent even though they were doing there
agm.
Its £110 a year and £110 joining fee. Pretty good for an
20or25m indoor range for benchrest standing and prone. Then the
outdoor 50m range which i think might go further. Then a 10m
pistol range.
Theres no bigger calibre firearms. Think it just up to .22.
I also emailed nitsa. They do everything and u can rent alot of
types of firearms there. They had an open day in January for
£25 plus ammo. They have stacks of ranges. I did get thw fees
but will need to look them up. Think you can phone shop on site
for info on next open day. Ill track down email and get back to
you.

Nitsa is £200 to join and £175 a year from April. They both
will get back to you.

Thanks for the reply bstaff, some excellent information there.
Either of the two clubs I mentioned would suit and are pretty
easy to get to from Moira. Did you take it further and join a
club?
Thanks again

Im still working on getting my FAC for an air rifle. I might
see about joining somewhere. Downshire is closest to me. They
like folk to be a visit a few times to see if they'll accept
someone for membership. Tis fair enough. If you fancied pistols
at some point the nitsa sounds a better bet.
Hope all goes well

Hi, NITSA have the best ranges 3 x 25m/2 x 50m (with more to
follow), and facilities in the country. If you call in to the
clubhouse anytime the range is open you'll be given a tour, and
you can join on the day if you wish.
If you want to shoot as a visitor, you must arrange it before
the first Saturday of the month (Visitors day - PSNI rules).
NITSA has a lot of .22 shooters, and runs regular competitions
in .22 rifle and .22 pistol if you are interested, as well as
other calibers.
The range is open Saturdays 10am - 5pm, and Fridays from 1pm -
4pm with more weekdays to follow shortly.
Call in, I'm sure you'll be impressed by the facilities if you
do.

Thank you both for the info.
I might take a run up tomorrow afternoon then if they are open
from 1pm.
Thanks again and I'll post how I get on.
