Northern Ireland FAC
By: Sanguine Fiend Date: February 24, 2015, 10:15 am

Good Afternoon
I've just bought a house in N Down and will be moving to
Northern Ireland shortly. Once there, I intend to apply for a
FAC and through reading the PSNI website I would just like to
check I've got everything in the right order for when I apply.
1) Buy and install cabinet to legal specification.
2) Place deposit on the air rifle / target rifle I want to buy,
that's how you get the Serial No. for the application form?
3) Submit application form with extortionate fee, reference and
photos attached.
3.5) If I do want to buy a target rifle, then I do need to join
a target rifle club in advance and attach that form as well. If
its an air rifle or a shotgun, I do not.
3.6) Authority to shoot over land? I don't know anyone with
land in NI, where do people get these things from. If I join a
rifle club will I be able to get authority from that?
NB. I don't plan to do any hunting, just range shooting.
Also please share your experiences of any clubs you may be a
member of. Bonus if its in Bangor / Dundonald / Comber / Ards /
Belfast area.
Cheers

If rifle is for target shooting only you may be required to do a
years probation although if you can demonstrate experience or a
previous membership this may be waived

As above i think the probation period applies for rifles, not
sure about air guns!
With a shotgun you can join a clay pigeon club and there is no
probation period but you will only be allowed to use it for
shhooting clay pigeons not over the fields!
This is how i got my first shotgun then got conditions changed
later on once i had land to shoot over

Thank you all for the responses.
A quick postcode check of my local area tells me that:
Hollow Farm
Comber Rifle club
Are the two closest shooting establishments to where I will be
living, does anyone have experience with them? would they
provide authorirty to shoot on their 'land, range etc'
Thank you

Hollow farm is pay and play withthe shotguns(skeet,DTL and
compact sporting)but u cant use the pistol range unless ur a
member of a club who is renting the range!
Comber rifles have there own ranges which i think are .22 only?
But they rent the range at hollow farm for pistol on a
wednesday!
Think they also shoot fullbore rifles at other locations aswell!
Checkout there website with all info comberrifleclub.com
