You do know it's not nice to kick a man when he's down.
But I am p**sing myself laughing. I'm thinking I will have to
meet you Thompy sometime. Probably makea it easier if we laugh
at our frustrations.
Twas thinking of things like slip, maybe rest bags, cleaning
stuff.

Sorry I was only havin a bit of a laugh, as this forum has kinda
turned into a morgue recently !
We don't know what kind of shooting your going to do, be it
hunting or targets.
If hunting I wouldn't worry about rest bags.
Forget about cleaning kit also, you need to put a lot of pellets
through your barrel to "run it in" before you would even
consider cleaning it.
I know people who have Never Ever cleaned the barrel of their
Air rifle and they have put thousands of pellets through them!
sling is personal choice, but I know there is no studs on the
hw97kt so your going to have to drill into the stock...... ouch
!
its not that heavy, when im out it goes under the arm, unless
your going to be walking miles, I wouldn't bother, but that's my
personal choice .
get a gun slip on flebay or amazon for about 10 - £15, but make
sure its big enough to fit the rifle AND scope. you don't wanna
buy one then realise it doesn't fit with scope on !!

No offense taken. It was a good line!
Im going to use it for hunting but realise ill have to be able
to zero the scope accurately too.
Im the second hand tx200 mk2 so it already has a stud in place
on the stock and clip on the underleaver. The sling is a bit old
webbing and might be changed. Any recommendations or things to
look for? What's the point of a thumbhole in a sling? (I can
hear a "duh to put ur thumb in!" coming.) Can slings be used on
springers to help stablise aiming positions?

Spring guns need to recoil in a controlled manner. Fitting a
sling can cause issues if you don't know how to use it. I
personally don't use one, but know people that do on spring
guns. The TX200 isn't exactly a light rifle, so a sling could be
handy for field use when carrying the rifle. Have you got a
scope? A one piece mount with an arrestor screw or block is
recommended. The scope should be suitable for a spring gun, but
so should your mount. Don't be buying crap mounts, as you'll end
up blaming the scope which can be quite an expensive mistake. A
half decent gunslip is also a good thing to have. If you buy a
cheap one it won't offer the same protection as a more expensive
padded version. Good ones aren't badly priced. You're protecting
an investment that should hopefully last years. The next thing I
would buy is a pellet pouch or a pellet holder of some sort. I
made one out of industrial rubber, but in hindsight I'd have
used softer rubber such as that from an old welly boot.
HuntersVermin on youtube has a how to video to make one. They
aren't readily available, but definitely worth making for a
spring gun. You'll get fed up very quickly opening and closing
pellet tins for every shot.

Ive enjoyed hunters vermin om you tube. Think I'll make a pellet
holder and a breech stop when I'm going to clean it. The pellet
holder looks a lot easier than fiddling with a nosiey tin that
could slip and pour out my ammo for the day. I'm sure it
happens.
As for the slip any recommendations? Is a £20 buffalo river one
going to do the job?
Not sure if you use range finders. They are a big expense but
are they worth it or should I just practice practice practice.

I use a buffalo river slip, but definitely wouldn't trust it to
protect my rifle. It's only used for transport and isn't ever
used to carry the rifle across fields. Range finders are great
for teaching distance to target recognition, but you'll get used
to judging distances yourself and find the range finder only
comes out of the pocket now and again once you've got used to
distance estimation.
