interesting conversation about waiting time for variations with
the ACC

A friend of mine got onto his local MEP OR MP about the waiting
times for initial grants/variations etc etc and the MEP/MP (cant
remember which it was), got their member of the policing board
to question the Chief Constable about it.
The email he received in reply (sent from the ACC) opened my
eyes!
According to him, currently,
initial grants are 28 days
further grants are 13 days
variations are currently taking 3 days!
where does Mr Hamilton (acc) get these figures from?

The figures are probably in relation to how long it takes the
FEB to complete a certificate grant or variation, but there are
reasons that we will probably never know about that cause
consistent delays. Somebody somewhere either has a strict set of
key performance indicators to stick to, or there's a top secret
group of people who strictly regulate firearms licencing here.
There's more than just police involved when it comes to NI
certificates.

over 3 bloody months waiting and still no sign of the variation.
This is twice as long as it took to get my licence initially.
Absolutely rubbish service.

They're currently working through Novembers applications
according to an feo. Have you contacted the feb about it yet?

not according to Mark Hamilton, in December they were taking 12
days (according to him) and were averaging very favourably with
the rest of the UK on turnaround times !
