First licence for air rifle

Hi all. Just applied for new licence after putting deposit on a
tx200. So the wait begins. Just wondering I seen on another post
with someone wanting a shotgun that there was a requirement for
6months supervision. Do you think they'll do the same for an
air rifle? If so I don't know who I'd get.
Also the cabinet I got has only two fixing holes. Im thinking of
using 10mm thunder bolts. Do I need to drill more holes on the
back?

Just dont go out for the first 6 month if you dont know any
one....
2 bolts would hold it but i think they prefer 4 , they checked
mine to see if it had 4 in

Thanks child21. Lol. But could you have sat on your licence when
you first got it!
As for the bolts might just make more sense to put in extra
holes. Am I right in saying if I put in 4 around the corners
I'd need to usw thw original 2 down the centre as well? They'll
need widened to fit the thunser bolts. Didnt fancy bolts that
came with it. Bit punny looking.

Four bolts would be preferable, as two bolts would be a lot
easier to contend with should someone want to remove your
cabinet. The 6 months probation is the police covering
themselves. If you sit on your licence for 6 months you will
have wasted 6 months whereby you could have been gaining
experience. Not everybody knows somebody who will mentor them.
The only concern with this is that the BASC recently announced
that they were dealing with a few cases where the police have
initiated certificate revocation procedures against a few
certificate holders, on the basis that they weren't complying
with the conditions on their certificates. It's up to you what
you do, but this is to be considered. As for the holes in the
cabinet, drill four more at the corners about two inches in from
the sides, top and bottom. Make sure to drill the holes to suit
the threaded bit of the bolt, and not the sheathed bit.
Otherwise the hole will be bigger than what it needs to be,
which would allow the cabinet to slide around if it wasn't
properly clamped.

Thanks Cannon. Yeah I'll sort the holes out. I sortive thought
that would be best. Do I need to use the original 2 as well
then or would it be alright with the 4?
I might join a club as well but that wouldn't be until I get the
licence so wouldn't affect the licence application.

No need to use original holes. just drill the 4 corners and use
them.

I think there were 2 on the bottom for bolting to the floor.
But my floor isnt concrete.

Spec is minimum 4 bolts of min diameter 10mm. As prev comments
said, drill 4 holes and bolt to wall.

I've been looking at how I'm going to fix my cabinet to the
wall. Is it possible to fix the side instead of the back to the
concrete wall? I'd drill holes in side of cabinet instead of
back. I could have back of cabinet against plasterboard wall.
Could put a couple of fixings to this too. What do you think?
