How do i clean the moderator for my .223 its a sonic 45
moderator. After i took it apart recently it seems to have a bit
of a build up of burnt powder in the same place in every ring
nearly and i dont want it to corrode badly. Wat sort of methods
and solvents should i use to give it a real good clean?

I've a sonic45 on my 308. I couldn't believe how caked on the
crud was, had to start and scrape it off the baffles with a flat
screwdriver before scrubbing with brake cleaner.

Exactly I couldn't believe how caked on it is. It a pure rusty
colour but I fire some sounds through it and it's now a dark
colour. I woulda thought u'd need to fire a good 1000 or so
rounds before u'd even need to think of cleaning it. Maybe me
shooting fmj could be dirty ammo

Ultra sonic cleaner of eBay 40 quid
As my 223 mod does not come apart I stick it in the sonic bath
for 10 mins and the the stuff that comes out is unreal
Originally bought to clean brass for reloading but I have put
all sorts in it
