we're only allowed to have semi's and pump's that hold 3 shells
in total, any more than that and you're in bother if caught --
even if it's a 25/50 year old gun, guns only have to be chained
or securely looked in the car if you're not with them i.e.
leavin them in a car over night, otherwise as long as you have
them with you you are within the stipulations of your
certificate which basically says you either must have your guns
& ammo in your approved safe at the registered address or with
you in your possession, to answer Brendy's question it only
needs be secured in a car if your not goin to be with it.

this all steans for the driven shoot were years ago a over and
under was deem not civil or sporting to bring it into the
pheasant drives and the only shotgunto have was a side by side
and as time went on more and more people liked the pointabitily
of the o/u it became more acceptable then came the american type
guns the pumps /semis these were despised being gun-oh and
unsporting having all these shots ,after dunblane/hunderford the
laws in uk got tighter only 2 in mag plus on in the breach
,these were loved by wildfowlers, pigeon shooters alike(some
people can apply for a 5 shot semi/pump for crop protection as
in the uk ) but the toffee nose die hards were trying to stop
them coming into the driven shooting scene ,our own wee pheasant
shot adopts a 2 shot policy on semi autos

wrong read your permit .
firearms and ammo being conveyed (which means transporting from
one place to another) in a vehicle must be hidden from view and
secured to an anchorage point or contained in a securely fixed
and locked box within the said vehicle

That was my understanding too.
I think John Law would take a dim view if your gun/guns was left
unattended in the car!

if that's the case I've been breakin the law for over 35 years
and they Police mustn't know their jobs either.
So just how many of us do actually "hide from view and
secured to an anchorage point or contained in a securely fixed
and locked box within the said vehicle" and abide by the law or
how many of us through ours guns in the boot or on the back seat
in a gun slip from the leave home until they get back again ??
