just got my details back from a duck i shot on lough neagh which
was ringed hada wait 2weeks but jus got the email. it was a
       female pochard.
This bird was ringed by Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust It was found
2915 days after it was ringed, 247 km from the ringing site,
direction WNW. it was ringed at Martin Mere, Lancashire nearly 8
       years ago.

you would not think that ducks live that long ,just shows that
we dont be over shooting our wildfowl grounds
this ringing could be an hidden advantage to our fight

after reading some of the ages of these ducks it does suprise me
that they live for so long dodging us. and as duck caller says
it could be an advantage! ;)

I once shot a ringed woodcock which turned out to have been
ringed 5 years previous and was an adult bird when ringed which
left it at least 7. It was shot 505km from ringing site. Makes
you wonder how many miles it covered in its lifetime.
