Deactivated Firearms

Does anyone know if a deactivated gun has to be put on your cert
or not?. Have read up that there needs to be a proof mark from a
Proof House and a certificate of deactivation.. but are the
rules any different for here in NI?.... They usually are lol

There seems to be confusion over here regarding deactivated
guns. I had one for a while with the birmingham certificate, but
was told that it wasn't valid over here? Apparently they need an
NI specific certificate. Whether this is true or not is another
question.

I would well believe it mate. sure nothing's simple over here
lol. Just spied a nice old hammer gun that I like the look of.
Would make a good wall hanger. but thats probably not allowed
here either

A quick call to the firearms branch should clear things up. I
know of one person who has a deactivated gun on his firearms
licence. Why I don't know. Maybe it depends on the
classification of the gun?

No need to put it on a cert. I own a deactivated Mosin and AK47,
both with Birmingham certs which have been checked by the PSNI
and they are all perfectly legal according to them. They must be
deactivated to the new spec however. I don't have an FAC.

the email I got from Firearms.Thought id put it up for anyone
else interested in buying a deactivated gun.
"If you have a Deactivation Certificate from either the London
or Birmingham proof house for this weapon it will not be
required to go on to your Certificate, as long as you provide us
with a copy of the Deactivation Certificate. If however it is
not deactivated to this standard the firearm will have to be
added to your FAC."
