Gamebore black gold

My normal game shooting cartridge is Gamebore's fantastic "black
gold" in a 32gram 6 flavour, but the last day I went to get some
I fancied some 5s for High pheasant and duck. Problem was they
had no 32gm in a no 5 so I was talked into trying a couple of
boxes of 35gm 5's.
I tried some recently on ducks and they performed flawlessly as
usual, although I was aware of the heavy charge of shot and made
sure the birds were not too close.
The point of my post though is that I was shooting them through
my trusty side by side which weights a mere 6 1/4lb and noticed
no discernible difference in recoil compared to the 32gm. Im
wondering do they use a different powder or a smaller charge of
the same powder to reduce speed and felt recoil?
