Looking to get into shooting in NI

I've been trying to do some research online but it's tough to
work out the best place to go and get started. I've also seen
some places that say on their website that guests are only
permitted on certain days, or if accompanied by a member etc.
I came across this club
HTML http://www.nitsa.org.uk/
and was
thinking I might try to stop by on Saturday as I'll be in the
area anyway. I've also found this club
HTML http://www.br-pc.co.uk/index.html
which I'm hoping to check out
in the next few weeks. According to the IPSC NI website Kells
RPC is probably worth checking out, but their website seems to
be under construction so I haven't a clue how to find it.

Just to give you a little bit of info about myself, I'm in my
mid 20's, recently returned from living in the U.S for a while
where I owned several guns and went shooting at least 3 or 4
times a month at my local range
(
HTML http://www.texasshootingrange.com
) so I'd consider myself at
least a moderately experienced shooter. I live in Belfast and am
willing to drive to pretty much anywhere in NI. I'm mostly
interested in handgun and long range rifle shooting.
If anyone here could give me any advice or help with getting
started I'd really appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum sir. I hope you enjoy your stay. I cannot
help you on the handgun nor rifle shooting I don't use them
myself but if you fancy a day at the clays please accept my
invitation to join my any Saturday or Thursday evening, I'm in
Lisburn although I go almost anywhere, cheers.

I've actually never been clay shooting before but I'd love to
give it a go. I'm hardly going to have a free moment for the
next two weeks or so, but would a Saturday towards the end of
the month work for you?

1st Saturday of each month is visitors day at NITSA, it's mostly
handgun shooting with some lever action rifles and 22lr/17hmr
bench rest shooting, hopefully will be a new range in the near
future for centrefire rifles

I can highly recomend NITSA! Their facilities are the best in
the country. The PSNI restrict the number of visitor days not
the club, this is the same for every club (not sure if they all
abide by it though), but if you are in the area why not call in?
you are more than welcome any Saturday and will be given a tour
of the ranges and air-conditioned clubhouse, which has an
on-site gun shop, training room, and soon to open upstairs Diner
with a viewing gallery over the ranges.
Visitors day (on which you will be able to shoot using club
guns) is the first Saturday of every month, however, if you join
and pay your membership any day, you can begin shooting
straight away as you will then be a member.
Maybe see you there Saturday.

Any idea when the centrefire rifle range might be coming?

Ah ok that makes sense, I just wanted to know if it was ok to
just drop in. I'll be in Newry tomorrow afternoon so I'll drop
in for a look around, even if I can't shoot.

Sorry for the delay in getting back on here, I've hardly had a
free minute all week. I'll give you a call during the week and
we can sort out a day to go. Talk to you soon
