ad removed on gumtree

Have a scope lying around doing nothing as we have new ones.. so
thought I'd chuck it on Gumtree just to get rid of it for a quid
or two, didnt think it would be an issue, there's any number of
scopes for sale on the likes of ebay etc day and daily.
About an hour after I put the ad up, Gumtree emailed me to say
my ad was removed quoting "We do not allow guns, ammunition,
airguns, replica guns and silencers, even if they are legally
available.
We also do not allow paintball guns, however we do allow
paintball paraphernalia."
Obviously safety and legality are of utmost importance where
firearms are involved and maybe I'm missing something here,
but...seriously?

Ridiculous policy. If the numbers were there a boycott would
come to mind. Why not sell the scope on here? I know a guy
looking for one depending on spec and price.

Its ridiculous! the scopes only a wee cheapy dan.. richter optik
3-9x50AO, was the scope that came with the rifle, nothing wrong
with it, has helped me claim a fair few bunnies lol. just wanted
something higher power and with parallax adjustment.

Did you use the word rifle in your ad? I advertised a "rifle
scope" a while back, and the ad was pulled. But recently I had a
"scope" advertised and the ad stayed up. They must have some
sort of filter to pick up key words.

yea I think that was it Flatliner, but even so.. a bit of common
sense wouldnt have went a miss.. instead of "computer says no"
gona send a wee letter off to the shooting magazine I get, see
if i can get a wee prize for best letter haha :L

had a quick nosey, theres a scope for sale on gumtree described
as "rifle scope". so whats the difference in theirs and mine...
ah well sent them a wee email. see what they come back with :)

mystery solved!.. had my ad removed as I used the word rifle
more than once in the ad and that I have close up pictures of
the scope while its still attached to the rifle.....
jesus wept...
