       Kids and guns

did anyone else watch this last nite? I watched it in total
amazement. Firstly a 4yr olds first ever experience with a gun
is near gettin her jaw broke with a .44 mag rifle that'll really
get her interested in shooting! Then a 9 yr old boy out by
himself slips on a rock an shoots himself in the forehead when
the butt hits the ground! Used to wish we had gun laws like
America but now thinking we're the lucky ones!

First ever gun I held was a 44 magnum revolver when I was 3, and
i supposedly proceeded to colour it in with a red crayon lol
On a more serious note, laws don't prevent stupidity. A 4 year
old with a rifle like that is either child abuse, someone trying
to turn a kid against guns, or a fuckwit; As for the kid
shooting himself in the forehead, personally I think 9 is a too
young to be out unsupervised, but then again I know a man who
had a similar accident with a shotgun and blinded himself, so
can't say it only happened because it was a child, could just
have been a nasty accident :-\

The rifle that killed the kid was definitely not safe. It went
off after being dropped 8". As for your 4 year old daughters
introduction to shooting being a .44mag rifle......what the hell
was that guy thinking? He must have lost his common sense at
some stage. The makers of this programme probably had the pick
of the town, so they could afford to put a negative slant on
shooting without having to make too much effort themselves.
There's always a few fuckwits out there who think they're doing
good for their kids, but are actually doing more harm. Rant over
       lol

To balance things out a bit, I know most Americans would say
that, given the pervasiveness of guns in their culture, kids
should be taught safe handling and use of firearms. At the least
this will stop them finding a firearm and having a fatal AD.
While the majority of gun totin yanks will take this seriously
there will always be a few who use this as an excuse for handing
a 9 year old a .44 and calling it education. America being a
very large place, there are going to be a fair few examples of
this, so the programme makers can really put any spin they want
       to on it.

they like to show the bad side of guns how many are safe with
gun in America but it don't make good tv

This is true, just thought anyone with a bit of sense would let
       a child start on a .22.

I think the creators of the programme set out with guns are bad
       in mind.
Letting any child go out alone with a rifle or even a pellet
rifle is a extremely idiotic thing to do.
And of course the cricket rifle the boy shot himself was unsafe
as the father showed a dropped test and it went off, the gun
manufacturer should be paying them millions in compensation.
