       Spikes Tactical .22lr
By: Countrysports Online Date: August 1, 2014, 10:09 am

Has anyone used or have a spikes tactical .22lr?
Any info on their functional reliability would be appreciated.
Toss up between this and M&P 15-22.
I have used the 15-22 but not the spikes.
       Cheers

I've no experience with the spikes, but the M & P has a very
"plastic" feel to it. Is there anywhere here stocking the
       spikes, what's their price range? I'm after a M4 style .22
myself and i think i've it narrowed down to the Colt M4 spec ops
and th H&K 416, have you looked at either of these?

I shot the ISSC, same gun. Both based on the SCAR platform.
Great gun to shoot and well put together but i still fancy a M4
       clone.

No-one here does the spikes tactical. I am speaking with the
importer in England about a build. The standard as far as I
know start at £950 plus £30 shipped to NI.
My club has the Umarex 416 and the Colt M4. Both were ok but
just did not float my boat whatsoever. other guys in the club
love theirs. I would go for the Aschutz over the issc
personally as issc has the shrouded barrel and di not feel as
good a build when shooting as the Aschutz in my opinion. They
are just not my preference personally.
When my Spikes arrives, yes I have decided to go for it, I will
let you know how it performs.

That's big bucks for a rimfire rifle no matter how many bells
and whistles it has. The HK 416 and S&W M&P 1522 are both solid
and reliable guns at £2-300 less than the Spikes. I like the
look of the Spikes, but you would have to be sure you want to
hold onto it for a good while. The resale value will be nowhere
near what you paid for it.

The others can not put a .223 or 300 blackout receiver on them.
That is the big reason for a spikes. I will also be able to use
the lower reciever set up to me with semi auto centre-fire
uppers when shooting in Europe. BTW they are still cheaper than
a Lantac raven (and better customer service from the amount of
time I have spent trying to get a quote off Lantac).
If i wanted a .22 with nothing else in mind then the S&W would
       be a real option.

Handy to be able to swap the uppers I suppose. Does the magwell
cater for all 3 calibers magazines?

yes. The .22, .223 and 300 all use the same magwell ;D.
The .22 mags are designed for .223 magwells due to the .22
dedicated uppers that were developed as well as the .22
conversion bolts from CMMG and the like.
Selling point is that a high grade match setup lower can be used
as practice with .22 upper, same trigger, same grip same stock
       and controls.
Basically I am getting a centrefire capable lower receiver with
dedicated .22 upper. That is the easiest way of describing it.
