gap between gun cabinet and wall.....

just fitted my cabinet into corner of room for inspection next
       week.
even though its flush with the wall at the back, on the side
wall theres a widening gap starting at the bottom till it
reaches its widest point 1/2 inch at the top.
its nothing to do with the cabinet, the walls are off (builders
must have been drunk when building my house.
cabinet is 100% secure, but will feo pass this ?

Yes if its fastened to the wall at the back it will be fine it
doesnt need to be against 2 walls , mine is about 6 inches away
from the corner of the walls ,

I would double check with your FEO before they come out to
       inspect.
An argument could be made that there could be a jimmy bar used
to take the cabinet off the wall if the gap is big enough to get
a bar in but small enough to get leverage on the cabinet. Or
your FEO could say it is fine depending on how it is mounted and
       the gap.
I checked with my FEO as I had a 1 inch gap between my cabinet
and the side wall because of cabinet handle. I moved mine out
about 6-7 inches and the FEO said no problem with new location
as long as it was secured and flush with the wall it was being
bolted to and unable to be jimmied off wall.
They also suggested welding a metal covering strip to my cabinet
to cover the gap if I could not move it.
Bottom line, give your FEO a call and see what they say.
       Individual circumstances with individual answers.

Mate mine was fitted nearly exactly how u described!
My feo never had a problem with it!
Never realy understood the whole leverage of second wall idea if
theres a crow bar involved ther not goin to be that hard to get
       of any way!

that's just put my mind at ease now. very true words there
sharpshooter... no point wasting energy trying to jimmy it off
the wall when a gun against your or a family members head gets
them out quicker and with no mess !!!

Well Feo came out and inspected my security
cameras/alarm/dog/lighting etc then went to the gun cabinet.
tried to rip it off the wall and it didn't budge.
Passed all checks and now im awaiting the arrival of my licence
       at long last !
Soon as it arrives its getting sent back for a variation to add
       a shotgun !

Before it gets printed aak your FEO if you can add it now. You
might not even have to pay the variation fee. My FEO done this
       for me with two guns.

       Rang, but with no joy...
Said it cant be done as I would first have to install a safe for
ammo storage (gun cabinet don't have an internal one) and have
it inspected. then a further application would need filled out
which would hold the whole process up.
So unfortunately I will just have to wait ....
How long on average these days does it take for a variation ?
FEO said there would be no need to check land as my permissions
are 100% for shotgun as they know them well...
