Do i need land that has deer on it, ie do i need a signature
from a landowner that has deer on his land, i was told "NO" by
someone who has deer rifles yesterday, but i was also told "YES"
a while back from someone different. Now who is right. Also. Do
i need to have a rifle serial number, or can i go ahead and
apply for a rifle and when i get the time is right send the
serial number on at a later date.

i was told the land had to have deer on it as the fao will check
the land and contact the landowner, my biggest problem was to
get a farmer willing to sign the form! farms that i know there
was deer on the farmers wouldnt sign! took 2 years for me to get
1 farmer to sign the form, as soon as the form was signed i got
the rifle i wanted ordered in and then sent my license away, i
now have a howa in .270
you can send in the license with " rifle make and serial number
to follow" but i think thats a pain in the hole as you will have
to send your license back to them, also put down for a sound mod
just incase you want 1 at a later stage.

Basically he has to fill in the landowners section of the FAC
application form.
If you've got a farmer to sign for you, you're flying - they're
like hens teeth.
All the best.

No. 223 is not a deer legal calibre in NI.

.243 or .270 or .308? Wont be reloading my own for moment.Which
is best have promise of written permission for land in south
and a possible candidate for North. Do I need DSC for north and
what is needed for south to apply.
Would look for a cheapish second hand model in whatever calibre
until such times as could buy a new package just to get me
started. Possibility of some feral goat as well!!

Update,,,,,,,Land acquired, farmer signature achieved, now to
get the 308 approved. As to yuor latest question above, you DO
need a D,S,C or equivalent S.A.C.S COURSE to be considered for a
legal deer caliber in Northern Ireland.
