Advice on Moderators

Hi you all
I know there is a wealth of knowledge on this site so here goes.
I bought a second hand PES stainless steel reflex mod for my
Ruger 77/22 wmr.
It does do the job noise wise but and a big but is it is not
putting the bullet where I would like it to go ie the bloody
target lol.
At least 2 feet low and 2 feet left. I kept trying to zero but
the scope adjustment ran out. Put it on the cz 452 I got
shortened to 16" and the same thing scope ran out of adjustment
had to re zero the 452.
Have i bought an expensive piece of sewer pipe or what. :'( :(
:o :-[

The bullets will hit lower with a moderator on, but they should
definitely not be hitting left or right of the point of zero.
Sounds like the rounds are clipping the inside of the mod. It
could be a bad thread job on the moderator itself if the results
are the same through two different rifles.

Just noticed it's a reflex mod. Does it come into contact with
the barrel other than the threads?

I had the same problem on my 308. The rounds were clipping the
mod on exit. Rfd sent it back to jacksons and they replaced it
and problem solved

Sorry Dancake I get what you mean the mod seems to be central on
the barrel

Tear an A4 page in half across it's width and slide it length
ways between the barrel and the mod until it stops. Then slide
it arou d the barrel a couple of times to check for resistance.
If it isn't totally smooth then there's a problem. Chances are
it's baffle strikes pushing the bullets off course. Bring it
back and tell the dealer it needs to be shauved.
