Tick removal from dog

Just took out my first ever tick from the black lab today,
missus had it out a walk over the fields. I spotted the tick and
she helped me hold the dog down (he's as strong as an ox).
Used a pair of tweezers to pull it out intact then swabbed the
wound with alcohol Swab.
Should have used a gummy bar, the wee frigger was not for
moving. Bolted in with concrete. And still alive afterwards.
That's the tick not the dog and not the wife.
The wife had to kill it afterwards as I was still holding down
the dog .......
Probably common enough for some of you boys, but a real learning
experience for me.

I had to take one out of my cocker spaniel. I used one of the
wee tick removal tool and it seemed to go ok but a few weeks
later it still had a lump. Vet thought the head was still in and
he had to have an op to get it removed. Next time I'll put put a
drop of frontline on the tick and wait for it to drop off
