gun cabinet placement for feo ?.

Hello all. Would the feo frown upon my gun cabinet being
installed in the loft?
My problem is I live in a relatively new build which has
plasterboard walls everywhere..
Second problem is that it will not fit under the stairs. This
just leaves sitting room or kitchen to bolt it to the floor.
Both would not be an option .
So my question is...would it be ok bolted to the wall in the
loft and would the feo have any problems with this?

Hello mate.
No there are no skylight windows in loft and no access to it
apart from upstairs.
Just double checked every wall and they are ALL plasterboard...
Typical new build houses....

You can fit them to plasterboard walls try and find a support
beam and bolt to that , or failing that contact the feo and ask
them there suggestions

So it seems to be a bigger debate than I thought. With some feo
fine with it and others not so fine.
I thought the attic would be the safest place (out of sight
completly).
Though I understand the thoughts of getting up to put it away
and not just put it under the bed thoughts.
child21 I dont think your correct when u say that they can be
put onto plasterboard support beams, otherwise no one would be
having the problems of were to put them.
anyone know the number or contact details of the feo for
carrickfergus?

Hi thompy,
I've checked out this PDF file, and if it's relevant then look
up the following pages;
HTML https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/117636/firearms-security-handbook.pdf
Page 6, section 2.9; can your loft joists support the cabinets?
Page 7, section 2.10; lofts are suitable as they are unlikely to
be visited by casual visitors
Page 7, section 2.11; the type of coach screws to use
Page 8, section 2.14 + 2.18; does your PVC/loft window conform
to BS levels quoted?
But here, if you don't have time, like most of us, then what
about this wee tip?
Get some of those sticky "clear" plastic sheets, I've used it on
windows to obscure the view from the outside but still managing
to let in 90% light. Surely if a "casual visitor" is walking
across your roof, then he won't be able to see in!
Cheers, monty
