variation back for 17hmr

Happy days just got my cz 452 17hmr variation was back in 9 days
now i just have to wait 6 months to use it till my supervission
period runs out lol :-[

Classic,,,,u get a variation then pubically state your not going
to use it till your 6 mths are up, no interest in the fact some
one while out with you may point out something your not doing
safely or help with how you use it.....nah just let it, sit type
on tinternet ,, then fire away...........somethings are best not
broadcast on forums!!!!

We don't need courses. There's far too much red tape as it is.
The other thing is that I suspect Turk is spoofing anyway. No
shooter worth their salt would sit on a new gun for 6 months
without wanting to fire it. What he really meant to say was 'Is
there some kind soul on here who will take me out across thine
fields for a swift lesson in how to control and use ones newly
acquired boomstick' or something to that effect. Now before
anyone says unfortunately I can't do it due to time constraints,
but I'm sure there's a Romeo out there in need of a Juliet lol

I think i should point out that i have been shooting full bore
and small bore rifle since i was 13 but i wont be using the
rifle unless i find some one to supervise me as stated on my
permit

Courses are fundamentally a good idea SS, however my fear would
be that it would be something the police could use against
shooters in an attempt to reduce the amount of firearms in
circulation. I am not familiar with the statistics on shooting
accidents that have occurred within the first 6 months of new
rifle ownership, or convictions for unsafe firearms handling
where shooters are concerned (particularly new shooters). They
are statistics I would be interested to know, but given the
police haven't pushed for more safety regulations where new
shooters are concerned I can only assume that accident numbers /
convictions for unsafe firearms usage are minimal. I am sure
there is a lot that happens that we will never know about across
the fields, but most shooters seem to be sensible, even new
shooters.
If firearm certificate fees go up in price, and introductory
courses are introduced and become mandatory, you're effectively
pricing and scaring people out of taking up shooting. The police
giving you a 6 months probationary period is just covering their
own backs incase something happens, but I'd have a guess and say
no amount of courses would encourage the police to remove the
supervisory condition on initial certificate and different
caliber grants. You could have courses hanging out of your ears
and you could still make a mistake. I do understand what you are
saying and you do have a valid argument, but the system has
worked without major incident up to now and I'd like it to
remain the same. Just my thoughts

I agree about having to do some sort of course, but then when
you look at a certain deer rifle course that was held very
recently by a well known association, only 3 people out of 12
passed the written exam, yet at the end of the course EVERYONE
passed and got the certificate !! (I wasn't on the course, my
mate was there)
These type of courses are a joke and are only a money making
exercise for the associations !

Kinda agree with ss and dancake lol I get worried by some of the
guns handed out to people with little to no experience, then
again I think if there was a mandatory course the government
(not the police) would rip the arse out of it - look how much
harder the driving test has got in the last 10 years, having to
do trailer tests, etc.
Anyway turk if you can get down this direction (near Armagh)
anytime ill "mentor" ::) you, can't guarantee how much is going
to be about but least ull get out with the gun.
