to clean or not to clean... 17hmr barrel

Well after reading a lot on the Internet. I am wondering how
often you lads clean the 17hmr barrel. I am fussy and clean all
my guns after every single outing (fired or not) but some people
say this messes with the accuracy on the Hmr? Opinions?

I just give it a pull through with a bore snake every box or
two, give it a full scrub and clean every 6 months. Are you
having accuracy problems at the moment? If not keep cleaning

yea babby ,accuracy is shit at the min.. groups are 3 inches at
100 yards. thats why i was wondering am i cleaning it too often.
could also be the heavy trigger making me pull shots though.

Can get a trigger upgrade kit for cz's on ebay for less than £20
or so, made a big difference to my 455. Also is the scope
magnification high enough to allow good groups? Finally is the
barrel definitely broke in, usually takes 200 to 500 shots
before its run in (I find anyway).
But failing that, as for cleaning shoot a box of ammo off then
try grouping and zeroing after to see what happens, might
       surprise you

Glad you brought up the scope.. It is a hawke sport HD 3x9x50
now I was thinking of changing up to the 4x12x50 . Would this
make a big enough difference or should I go bigger. I would say
after toad I have put 300 rounds through her. But have only ever
       cleaned it with the boresnake

I used to clean my 17 HMR after every outing and in the end I
could hit nothing with it..............haven't cleaned it now in
8 months and its now a tack driver, either that or ive just got
better...........which I doubt. Leave it alone for a month or
two and see if accuracy improves.

If its shooting sweet, I wouldn't
touch the barrel. I haven't cleaned
my .22 barrel for months either.

Never clean your 22 snap, it'll take near 500 rounds to get back
       to being accurate lol
Scope choice is a personal thing jimbo, here's a pic I took
through my 3-9 redfield on my .222 at a 6" square jack Pyke
target last year at 100 yards...

I was complaining I couldn't get a decent grouping with the gun,
blamed myself, blamed stock length, ammo, everything, til I took
this pic one day. Maybe I'm not such a great shot but once I saw
the pic I thought to myself "how the fuck am I expecting to get
right groups when I can hardly see the fucking target" lol scope
magnification power causes nearly as many arguments as 22 vs 17
or over and under vs semi auto... Again it comes down to what
works best for you. I put a hawke 6-24 on the gun in February
and here's the groups I'm getting at 280 yards, usually keep the
       scope around 16 power
