Hi, I was thinking about getting a .22 pistol, does anyone know
the way to go about this. Do I need to be a member of a club? If
anyone has any info let us know.
cheers

You need to be a member of a club if it's for target shooting,
and you will more than likely have to serve a 1 year
probationary period within the club before you are allowed to
purchase your own pistol. Until then you can use club firearms
if they have any.

You aren't allowed to use pistols on your own land over here
including air pistols, unless your own land has a police
approved range on it.

Hi,
You could try the Northern Ireland Target Sports Association
(NITSA) on the Buskhill Road between Banbridge and Newry.
They have excellent ranges and facilities as well as an on-site
gun shop , and have 22 guns of various calibres including .22
available for members use.
They also have NRA qualified instructors to help you get started
and can help you at every stage of your application.
Their website is - www.nitsa.org.uk
Hope this helps.

No ranges for .223/.308 etc yet but hopefully will be soon,
mainly just pistol calibres (from pistols and rifles) and
rimfire calibres (pistol and rifle again)
