.22 shotshell

thoughts and opinions on .22 shotshell?? . if anyone knows how
effective they are?. was thinking of getting some for rats in
empty stable buildings/ barns etc.. good idea or be better to
stick with an air rifle?

If i mind right I think I read somewhere that they only had an
effective range of about 15 feet.

Yes heard they were not worth the money at all.
Could be wrong as have not tried them but thats what the general
opinion seems to be.

I havent tried them myself but they wont eject on some semi auto
rifles, think your better sticking with the air rifle

I had a box for shooting starlings in a barn. Very hard to get
out of the breach wen fired. Also crap range aswell. Wouldn't
buy them again . Very dirty rounds aswell

i think you have to remove moderator before using them ,and
chances of a ricoshea ( bad spelling) better wear safety glasses
inside

you need to take the moderator of shoot like a shotgun work on
runners if you cant get them to stop

cheers for the advice! will stick to the air rifle me thinks,
wouldnt even chance using subsonics either would be ricochet
hell. though may get some shotshell to shoot at some paper
targets, just for something a bit different..
may be a stupid idea, but why do they not make rounds with a
lower charge than subsonics for use in enclosed areas?

There are ones that are about 750fps rather than the 1065fps of
the subs.
More like a powerful air rifle, although they are still 40grain
so pack a bit of a punch, also i think an air rifle would be
more suited to indoor ratting.

If considering using shot shell get the cheapest old 22 you can
get your hands on and keep it solely for that purpose. I have
used them in the past and can be quite effective however the
shot destroys the rifleing in the barrel which renders the rifle
useless for accurate shots thereafter
