       Bit of target shooting
       By: babbyc1000 Date: March 18, 2014, 6:29 am

Took advantage of having the day off yesterday to try out some
home loads with the .222, I've done a bit of testing at 100
yards but went out to 280 yesterday. Wasn't ideal conditions but
don't think I did too badly!

Have to say this rifle keeps surprising me with how accurate it
is, esp with the home loads, they're a 55 grain hollow point
       only going approx 2700fps!!

Nothing wrong with that Babby. It looks sub MOA to me.
What is she zeroed at & how much was the drop?

Cheers mate, zeroed at 100 yards, drop at that range is about
12-13" with those loads, the hawke ballistic calculator linked
to the scope told me precise hold over (dont want to faff about
dialing in yet) and they were hitting pretty much where it said
they should. Probably should have stuck a target up on the slate
but tbh wasnt sure how accurate the calculator was (and how good
I was) so used the slate as it was the biggest thing I could
       find lying nearby lol

Was surprised how well it held up, thought 1st shot might have
shattered it, took a 12ga blast to smash it lol

Cheers Chrisy, I've said that by the end of the summer I want to
be hitting coke cans at 300 yards first shot every time,
probably won't happen but it'll be a fun challenge to work
towards, good test for both me and the gun :)

Aye even reloading its still pricey enough, but buy in bulk and
you don't notice the sting as much :-[ lol

Babby, just for your own information, and for future reference
to give you a comparison, that group measures 1.119 MOA (3.28
       inches CTC)
I used 'On Target Precision Calculator' to check it. It's a
handy wee program - and it's a free download.
       All the best,
       Al.
