Lamping rabbits - light mounting on scope help required

Ok went out last night with the CZ .17HMR . Never been lamping
before with or without anyone. Lamp olight MX3 Triton on a
Leapers 6-24x50.Found it very hard to see through scope. Tried
moving eye for eye relief and could see grass as no rabbits to
look at. had on lowest setting of IR on recticle. Do I keep it
at a low mag think it was at 14 or 16. Is that the problem?
Didnt think of it at time.
       Any ideas?

Not sure what exactly the problem is, so of the best things to
do is try some target shooting at night. Lots of people will
tell you that you can only use 6 or 8 power at night, but it
depends on the scope. I had a 4 to 16 on my hmr and always left
it at 16 power, day or night, without a problem. It may be your
comb is too low so you're not getting consistent head
positioning (something that shows up more at night than during
the day), it may be the magnification is set too high for the
gun, focus/parallex could be off, you may find that the
illuminated reticule is more hinderence than help (I normally
do)... Lots of things. So best thing is to so some target
shooting at night, youll have the time to fiddle Bout with the
scope and your set up to see whats wrong as you won't be faffing
about in a panic trying to get sighted on rabbits :)

SS might just do that. Probably easier for me to come to you as
I'll be about your way anyway. Not having shot at night its
difficult to get used to specially if out after rabbits. Targets
might help to get used to shooting in dark. Anyway I'll be in
touch. Once I get set up hopefully problem will be cured.
Want to try the BRNO .22 as well!!
       thanks

had the gun nicely zeroed at 125yds. Was getting 1.5inch
group(excellent for me). Decided this morning to reset the
turrets to show zero using handbook now that it was zeroed and
could use turrets for dialling in . Disaster. Took up to my
local farm as I had 30mins to spare to check it out. 10 shots
didnt even register on a sheet of A4 at 125yds.FFS Large sheet
       of cardboard required!!
