Pretty sure they're illegal, as it is no longer classed as a
pistol and is therefore a different category of firearm.

“handgun” means any firearm which either has a barrel less than
30 centimetres in length or is less than 60 centimetres in
length overall, other than an air gun, a muzzle-loading firearm
       or a firearm designed as a signalling apparatus;
From the 04 firearms act... Might be arguable it is legal as
barrel length won't be changing and as long as its under 60cm...
       Maybe...?
Just considering what 9 mil to buy, like the browning hipower
but would be tempted by a glock if could use these stocks the
odd time, just for a change while at the range, gonna have to
       investigate this a bit more

I have used one of these conversion kits on a Glock 17 and it
made a massive difference to the whole experience. Accurate
shots were a piece of cake and it felt very solid and
manoeuvreable. One of these with a Doctor red dot sight would be
great for practical pistol, but as I mentioned above I think
they're a no go over here. It is possible that I am incorrect
though. Maybe an email to the FEB would clear things up.

but I'm doing all my homework now, would be interesting to see
       :)

Pretty sure they're legal. As you said it relates to the actual
barrel length of the firearm and it's not a permanent change to
the firearm. I got myself a different version and yes great fun
an really make a difference on the grouping. A cop friend at the
range has the 'ronni' version. If you wanted the same thing at a
fraction of the price checkout the one I ordered.... Quite a
sturdy little thing. This guy sells a fore grip aswell.

Cheers, I'd seen them before too, they just slide into the grip
behind the mag do they? I'm seeing them as being no different
than adding a different stock to a shotgun, as long as you don't
break the specified lengths in law then it shouldn't matter.
Have a feeling a glock with one if those stocks and a 30 round
mag would be alot of fun lol

Just found this lovely corner of the internet. Refreshing to see
       something NI focused.
a handgun” means any firearm which EITHER has a barrel
less than 30 centimetres in length OR is less than 60
centimetres in length overall. So as long as one of these
       conditions are satisfied, its ok.
I can't find a mention of what constitutes a rifle in the
interpretation section. What specifically prohibits pistol
       calibre carbines?

A rifle must be minimum 30cm barrel and overall length of
minimum 60cm, and the only semi auto you can get is 22 (lr or
wmr) if I remember right, and there's something about a rifled
barrel (as opposed to smooth bore) mentioned too. So if you had
a 9mil glock that (for arguments sake) had a 31cm barrel, and
was 61cm in overall length (just an example lads I doubt it
exists) then it would be illegal. That's just my reading of the
law, had to look into it before when input a bullpup stock on a
       10/22 a few years ago
