Two .17's

I currently have HMR and .22lr - the latter rarely gets used now
and I am tempted to trade it in for a HM2 .17 - thing is, will I
be allowed two rifles with similar calibre? I state in my FAC
that the .22lr is for vermin control, whilst the HMR is for the
same, but at extended range. One could argue that the HM2 is
for extended range work and therefore performs the same function
as the HMR. Don't want to have to join target clubs etc to get
one.

You wish to keep one of them set up as a dedicated night vision
rig for shooting rabbits in the dark. You dont want to have to
be changing scopes etc every time you change for hunting in day
to night?

I wonder will firearms section make an issue of this? - I know
they are the same calibre, but maybe I can argue the range
difference? - if it's going to be a lot of bother I will just
hang on to the .22lr.........just can't see me using it much. I
don't want to end up with 3 rifles and shotgun as I will then
have to go for a bigger cabinet [already have Warmflo 4/5]

Same calibre,but different cartridge.You could argue the point
that the mach2 is less likely ricochet than the .22lr, and that
you still need your hmr for longer range stuff.

Yeah, I think that's the way to go - out of interest, anyone
know of anyone with a used HM2 in stock? - or any individual
looking to swop for a mint .22lr with scope?

They're clamping down on the dedicated NV. My advice is dont
mention NV been there and done it.
