Had my first go with a pistol yesterday.

I went with a friend to a local gun club last night, the Kells
rifle and pistol club near Ballymena. I wanted to try shooting a
handgun. After a safety and gun handling intro I was threw in
at the deep end with a 9mm glock semi auto same as the PSNI
model. I shot a couple of magazines through it. I was grouping
them well but a few inches high. I was then handed a lovely CZ
75 also in 9mm. I felt much more comfortable in the hand and the
trigger pull was much smother. I emptied a mag at a 6" target at
about 10 yard and all shots were in the target. Also had a go
with a Ruger double action revolver in .38. I was beautiful to
shoot with almost no recoil and really fine trigger. Then a go
with a marlin lever action rifle (cowboy type gun) This was also
in .38 but shot at 25 yards. A fairly big group at around 5 or 6
inches but all in the black of the target standing unsupported
with iron sights. I really enjoyed the experience and look
forward to trying it again sometime.

He sure did. Seems like a real genuine chap and very
enthusiastic about what he does. It is a bit agricultural round
there but it suited me just fine, anymore up market and I may
have felt out of place. The glock does feel clumsy in the hand
compared to the cz but It seems to have its followers. They all
seem pretty expensive for what you get. I expected the ammo to
be more expensive. The 9mm was about the same cost as hmr stuff.
Look forward to trying something different next time. The ruger
100 is a nice revolver and it say with a bit of experience could
       be very accurate too.

9mm Glocks are evil guns lol. CZ's are excellent and offer a lot
for your money. It can become very addictive very quickly.
There's a Beretta 92FS on that Gun Deal website. I'd love to
have a look at it because £390 is a steal for one of them.

       Woodcock1.
I am glad that you had an enjoyable and safe first experience at
       the sport of pistol shooting.
If you go down the lines of joining a club and eventually
purchase a pistol of your own, take the opportunity of shoot as
many different types until you find one that suits you, you like
and you are comfortable shooting with before you part with your
       cash.
       Happy Shooting

The Kells club is pretty close to me, I looked into it before.
The website doesn't give much away and provides very little
       information.
Any members of the club on here?

Someone got a bargain. There's another one on the website and
it's new. Only thing is the price is listed as P.O.A. This to me
is daft. If you are a retailer trying to sell something put a
f*****g price on it. I'll not be ringing about it with all that
       P.O.A nonsense lol

Agree with you Dancake. If something has POA on it I just
wouldn't bother asking and the shop has potentially lost a sale.
Just put the feckin price on, its not too hard ;D
