Hey guys still in the marget for my first .22lr!
Really like the look of the cz's,just a fee questions
Will the longer barrell be a masive disadvantage over the
shorter one?
Will the varmint barrels extra wait become enoying wile carrying
around?
Also had a look at the thumbhole stock which fitwel is this a
disadvantage for field work?
Thanks

The longer barrel becomes a bit unwieldy when fitted with a
moderator, so only really a disadvantage if most of your
shooting is done in a confined space.
The varmint barrel is no real advantage in a .22lr. It's more
down to aesthetics - in my opinion, it does look much better. A
heavier barrel will, in theory dissipate heat better, but as
said, in an LR heat's not really an issue. If you think you may
not be up to carrying the rifle over extended distances, go for
one of the lighter profiles.
The thumb hole stock is nice, but is a bit limiting when
shooting from different positions. For example, the shape of the
CZ thumb hole doesn't really lend itself that readily to
shooting from the prone position, whereas the likes of the AICS
thumb hole stocks found on centre fire rifles tend to be
better. This is mostly down to the angle of the pistol grip - a
more vertical grip being better suited to prone shooting.
Hope that helps,
Al.

I'm not sure about current prices so can't really say if that's
a good deal, but give Tom Lewis at Lavin guns a shout and see
what kind of deal he can offer you. He's always very competitive
when it comes to pricing.

I was going to go with the thumbhole but dealer can't get any
from Edgar until March, so I went for a 452 until such times I
can get one

The cheapest CZ dealer I have found over here is CF Beatties in
Ballycarry. Sometimes as much as £100 cheaper on a new 452/455
compared to other dealers here.

Just traded in my 455 at the hollow in Comber. I still have it
but once the Licence is through in a couple of weeks that'll be
up for grabs.
I literally handed it over and they were showing it to some
other lad. However the guy at the counter told me to take it
with me an bring it back when I pick up the new gun, so that I
could fire off the rest of my sub rounds.
Cracking gunshop!

Look on gunstar or other mainland sites. CZ .22 and BRNO s going
for a lot less s/h even with the transfers to a local dealer.
Saying that I bought a .17hmr s/h from Bridge Guns and Tackle
at a very reasonable price with mounts and a moderator. You dont
have to buy new.Spend some time looking around local shops and
web before deciding.
