       soft point or ballistic tip
By: mac Date: January 3, 2014, 12:06 pm

Happy new year shooters. im useing 50 gr soft points in my .222
for foxes.they have great stoping power and
I have no complints. but im wondering would ballistic tips do
more damage and have more stopping power?
opinions welcome. or do they do much the same damage.

I've been looking into this for my .222 as well, I've used both
and I'm thinking the ballistic tips have the edge, but might
       just be me

I only use ballistic tips now in the .222 I find them better.

I'm eyeing these up for reloading, one of the best ballistic
coefficients I've seen (better than the 50 gr vmax) and
shouldn't be too heavy for the twist rate on the .222 to
stabilise. Still in the process of sorting a new scope at mo so
won't be trying these for a while, but look good on paper and
       hornady are usually good

Lead soft tips are usually shorter which in a slow twist barrel
is much better as it stabilises better.
The question is which is better for ur hunting purposes?
       Accuracy or stopping power.
       For me accuracy.
A lead tip will stop a fox more than it will ever need to be
       stopped. ;)
Go for ur most accurate round.
