What do you use to call foxes.

I dont normally do any lamping but ispired by some forum members
reports and photos i decided to try this week. I used to lamp
with my father years ago but we had so much ground to cover we
never botherd calling. If the fox was to far away we just went
to the next one. We got dozens of them over a couple of years.
Theres a local farmer who said recently foxes were carrying an
infection that was causing his cattle to abort calves so im
       concentrating on his land.
So, i went for a quick look round on sunday night, pouring rain
and say a fox about 60yds but as soon as put light on it it ran.
I didnt mind as I had no gun with me. Tuesday night was too
foggy so went again last night, this time armed. Saw 1st fox
about 150yds and called with piece of glass and polystyrene. It
came to about 120yds and would come no farther. I was in rushes
and i couldnt get a clear shot at that range.
I moved on and quickly spotted another. Calling again as I tried
to move closer but it always kept moving on in front of me.
Every time I called it stood still but when I stopped calling to
take the shot it kept moving on.
What calls do you guys use to lure them into range and give them
an interest. I shooting 17hmr so round 120yds would be my limit.

i use a cheap acme caller does the job for me i give it a few
calls and if i get the fox coming in then i just squeak with my
lips till its in range dont do as much lamping now although
getting back into it as the stepson has got a .22mag now, but
when i was lamping i was out with a lurcher and many a fox i
called in so close that i cud of kicked them not all foxes but a
fair few came in real close i was getting on average 6/7 foxes a
week at that time out by myself with the lurcher

I get best success with this one. Its tied to the draw string on
my hood, so its never far away.

I like the idea of your first one foxy. Watched a you tube video
of it there and sounds good. Rite off to shoot now.

Aye, it seems to get the most of them to pay attention.
When I got it first, my lamping buddy used to piss himself
       laughing at me.
He reckoned I sounded like I'd stood on a duck. ;D

i jus squeak with my hand and had a fair few come in close. few
year ago was out with the lurcher one came running in that fast
and close to me the dog jus had to open its mouth and i hada
step back couldnt belive it. i remember a nite wen a few boys
started a small pheasant shoot so wanted to get at the foxes
anyway i had the lamp checking out for a fox wen i hear this
noise behind me it scared the **** :o out me, one of them had a
big glass bottle and a lump of polystyrene my ears wer ringing i
said to myself he's gona scare every fox with in 10 miles of
us.30secs later hada quick check with the lamp and coudnt belive
it one coming at us like a greyhound. ten mins later in a
different field same thing happened again.

I spotted one last night which was shootable about Id say 120m
but I thought Id try him with a squeek or two with the
polystyrene to get him sub 100m. He wasnt bothered by the light
bus as soon as I squeeked off he went as hard as his legs would
       carry him.

I use a WAM whistle most of the time.. it very easy to use and
you can use it without ur hands so if like me u have the lamp
mounted to the gun u can call and use the lamp at the same
       time..
