anyone know anything about central heating boilers?

I have a central heating boiler, it runs on heating oil and we
ran out of heating oil and didn't get some for about 3 months.
Now we have got heating oil and when your put on the heat it
just puts of the trip on the electric board. Anyone know wat
could be causing this?

Similar thing happend to me turned out it was the waterpump
which had seized up

A quick fix would be to give the side of the casing a light tap
with something just to see if you can free it up.
You could also strip it and try to free it up that way. However,
if it has seized, it's probably past it's best, so a trip to a
plumber's merchants on Monday or go to B&Q tonight and pay 50%
more for it.
Simple enough job to replace. Close the valves either side of
the pump, loosen the fittings and replace. Plug it in (or hard
wire), bleed it and away you go. Well within the capabilities of
your average DIYer.

I'd say u have an airlock and u need to bleed it! Keep trying to
start it up most times doing this will clear it itself, if not
close the tap on your tanks line that leads to boiler, and
loosen the nut and remove copper pipe do this at both ends, then
blow down it untill it's clear (this can be quite hard )
depending on how far ur tank is from boiler!! Once u can blow
through it put it back on again at the tank first then turn the
tap on, leve the boiler ond of, once the oil is pissing out
freely turn the tap of again and connect the line to the boiler
again and open tap. Hope it helps .

Worth checking before you touch the pump, but an air lock
usually shouldn't throw the trip.

Everyone's assuming it's the fuel pump that's throwing the trip
(and it may well be), but try isolating your circulating pump
and turning your heating on briefly just to rule that out.
The fuel pump, although it hasn't been operating, is at least
sitting in kerosene. The circulating pump has been lying with
water in it, and this may be seized and could be what's throwing
your trip.

I would go with the air pock ..happened to mine a few times easy
to fix
