       Lamp advice
       By: babbyc1000 Date: November 18, 2013, 2:52 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Need some advice and ideas if possible, I'm thinkin of changing
the set up I currently have on the .222. I've been using a large
handheld lamp (15 million candlepower b&q job), and a green
laser nd3 type torch on the gun itself. It works great for
rabbits but I'm finding its a bit slow on foxes, plus its a pain
in the ass carrying the lamp, rifle, stand, rucksack, etc. I've
a couple of ideas in the pipeline but I'm looking advice on
scope mounted lamps that can be used for scanning and taking the
       shot.
       What I'd like is something
       -Light weight
-Shows foxes eyes up to 300m with a red or orange filter (and if
       further even better)
-Isn't too bulky (some of the lamps looks like a sky dish on top
       of the scope)
-Preferably doesnt have a large separate battery pack; either
has the battery in the lamp itself or has a small battery that
attached to the stock; I'd rather carry 2 or 3 spares than have
to carry one of the satchel types with leads between me and the
       rifle.
-doesnt cost a clean fortune (thinking £200ish max but the lower
       the better)
       All ideas welcome lol

Your not after much babby are you! Lol
Not sure I have the deben tracer max but haven't shot foxes with
it and comes with a battery pack so that's probably not the one
       for you lol!

       Skydish lol
From what ive read, Nightmaster 800 with coloured led would fit
your bill - much better than a filter.
Some people will whinge about a square beam but you cant have
everything. Sub £200, I think it would be the ticket.

That's why I came to the experts stewarty I knew you all could
       help lol
I could probably stretch to £300 if it fitted the bill
perfectly but don't want to go too overboard as there's possibly
a new scope on the go, ill take a look at the suggestions thanks
guys, reason I don't want anything too bulky or with wires
around it is I reckon it's an accident waiting to happen - for
       me anyway  ::) lol

Babby, go for the nm800. Fit and forget. Great battery life and
       no hassle.
As far as the different colour beams are concerned, don't worry
about the hassle of having to change the colour. It's worth a
few minutes of your time to change the colour of the LED as
opposed to fitting a filter. The difference is immense. A filter
does just as it's name suggests - it filters. This reduces the
efficiency of your torch straight away. With the nm800, the
colour is pure, be it amber, red or green. You couldn't really
compare a filtered light to that of a dedicated coloured LED.
It's your money and your choice, but the nm800 does everything I
need of it, and it does it well.
       Al.
