First "bag" of woodcock.

I have had 3 part days out after woodcock this year and after
getting an early one on Oct 25th I only had one since. But my
latest try, this weekend looked a bit more promising. I flushed
7 including a nice pair but only got a quick snap at the first
with which I didn't succeed but got the second, a really long
crosser touching 50 yards flat out down the valley. I struggled
with my shooting other than that and only managed 3 but a nice
day never the less.

It sure is nice ground. one of my favourite places to hunt
woodcock though not always the best. There is nothing else on
it. Couple more pics for you of the ground itself. It was once a
grouse shooting estate in a time long past. The old keepers
house still stands. Its unspoiled and I imagine it hasnt changed
since the grouse parties shot it a hundred years ago.
