Radio Ulster 12 & Over Supervision

Just Turned on Radio Ulster today to hear Wendy Austin chat to a
few concerned mothers about children being able to shoot under
       supervision from 12.
I listened with great interest since I had been out with my
father since a five year old wildfowling and after pheasant and
woodcock over hill and Glen. I was happy to bag in first duck a
big Mallard near the Lough End and take my 1st Pheasant before I
       was 12.
I had grown up with a father who drilled in safety safety and
more safety and I have instilled this into my son who loves the
       sport.
I grew up with guns and to listen today to some mums who would
not understand what types of shooting takes place ie clay or air
       rifle shooting.
I also just caught Paul Given who spoke well in favour of this
and as stated in the rest of the Uk there is no restriction on
the under 12's being allowed to shoot under supervision and made
the point that the ACF had their cadets on the range from 9-10
       onwards.

Heard a mother complain about the gun crime in Northern Ireland
and said there was enough problems with guns without putting
them in the hands of 12 year olds-love how she seams to think
that the guns used in gun crimes are registers with the firearms
       department!

Fast forward to 36 minutes to hear it......................
Thought David Robinson from the Gun Trade Guild NI spoke well,in
favour of it. Just the usual hysterical women crying out against
it.............. Sharpshooter pretty much sums it up.

from the age of 13 the cadets taught me how to operate military
grade firearms in 5.56 (including the full auto lsw), I was a
qualified marksman and weapons handling instructor by 15 and
also on a shooting team, shooting in (and winning) several
competitions. If that's not scary enough they also spent the
rest of their time teaching me military tactics, such as setting
ambushes, training me to pilot light aircraft, and on one
memorable occasion at raf Holton let me play with Semtex and
several other types of explosives which the raf police had found
       over the years.
And these women are getting worked up over a fucking shotgun?!
       ::) lmao!!
