Chid if u read the post the dog is being shot because it is no
longer working, which in my eyes is wrong! If a dog is suffering
then I don't have a problem with a dog bein shot, as not
everyone can afford vet bills I can understand this part.....BUT
to put ur dog to fight with a badger which can and will injure
it in my eyes is wrong

heres one for you to think about... i keep lurchers for hunting,
as these get older they slow down and cant do a days work , now
wot is more cruel to you leaving that dog in the kennel while
you take a younger one out , seeing all the live slowly drain
out of the dog till its a shadow of its former self , or give it
one last high and give it a days work and give it a bullet at
the end of it which its not going to know about ...
luckily im yet to have to make that desicion but i know which
one id rather do in my mind

I bred Nd showed dogs to a very high level all over the world,
at one point I had a breeding program and 19 dogs in my kennel,
not including pups. I would never dispose of any of them like
this gobshite is wanting to do, including weak runt pups witch
in the show world wear known as scrap cull animals, as breeders
look at it S just wasting the mothers milk time and energy , so
they cull them!! I simple treated them the same Nd sold them
half price to pet homes. Simple no need for this shit,
As for the running dog thing iv nothing against running rabbits
or hare, but I hate it against fox or badger, I PERSONALY think
its a dog fight and 2 dogs can't scrap so why can a team of
terriers or runners rip a bager/fox apart, I think it's a harsh
death indeed, And the state of the terriers and running dogs CAN
be wild . My uncle does it and to be honest iv seen it all. I
hate it..
But plenty of people think I'm cruel for shooting foxes ,
PERSONALY I just think its more humane no pain and job done,

Well isnt this thread an argument waiting to happen ::) lol
My personal opinion on it is... My own personal opinion, and its
nothing more than that. The important thing is legality, is it
legal to shoot your own dog? I know it's legal to shoot dogs
attacking livestock (as per my feo it was also legal for me to
shoot them on the farmers behalf if I had it in writing) but
could you be facing an animal cruelty charge?

yes it is legal to shoot your own dog, but its illegal to shoot
someone elses , eg if your mate comes round and says shoot that
dog for me ... but if you buy the dog from your mate it then is
deemed lawful, its been going on in the greyhound world for
years

Have a look at your fac conditions. If they are for sporting
purpose and vermin control only then you cannot use your firearm
for humane dispatch. Only vets and certain farmers have this
specific condition for specified guns. To use the guns to kill
an inconvenient dog you are breaking the law. Technically
farmers should contact the dog warden if dogs are attacking
sheep but in the real world they will protect the sheep to
prevent immediate suffering.
