Taking to a fella yesterday who is taking one of my pups but
that's by the way ..was telling me of his friend who beats on a
well know high end shoot . Will leave it at that I case he's on
here .. Has a ageing springer lets just say 9 ish years old
worked all it's life for him loyal thick and thin .. Got a new
pup training it up ..so the question is what would you do with
the old faithful dog ... He's taking it across the fields on a
bit off his land digging a hole and shooting it with a 22 ..
Cause it costs 90 to get it put down . It's as well I don't no
this person cause if I did I would report him to the psni or
animal welfare people .surely this is not right ... How could
someone do that ..disgusted

You can only imagine that when ur pup becomes too old it will
face the same end. Even if it was to hurt itself whilst out on
the field it will prob end the same aswel, he won't pay for vet
bills.
I think its disgustin man. But im sure everyone else has there
opinion.

It's not illegal to shoot your own dog .
And some people just ain't got the space to keep a couple of
retirees and young dogs.
Me personally I would rather pts than put a old working dog in a
pet home...
If people were more responsible with breeding , culling ,
rehoming we wouldn't have rescue centres full of mutts

Would it not be right to say that most dogs in shelters are
family pets that the family can't handle or don't want for what
ever reason!?
I no a farmer can legally shoot a dog if it's terrorising
animals but not sure about shooting it cos it's old!!

I know of a guy that tried this. He fluffed the first shot and
didn't have the heart to try again. Ended up bringing the shot
dog to the vets to get the deed done. As a dog owner I'd feel it
was my duty to let my dog go peacefully when the time came,
regardless of monetary value. Years of loyalty and friendship
are worth more than money. Try buying that for £90.

he must be a heartless bastard !! I'd a springer I had to get
put down at 16 years old but he worked away nicely to he was
11/12 all be it slowly but for what he did for me over the years
he deserved all the time and respect I could give him, to put a
dog down just because another one comes along is just Wrong -- I
would report him for what he intends doing if it's correct,
different matter if the dog was very ill with no way back. !
