every dogs different ! if you get to know your pup well enough
you'll get to know what it's capable of learning and when not to
over work it, I'd a cocker pickin pigeons up from the middle of
a pattern at 7 months, it was a smart dog and got to know very
quickly what I wanted, I never laid and hand on it for
punishment as it knew by the tone of my voice if it was doin
good or bad, get to know it well, get it to trust you 100% and
you should make things a lot easier for yourself .

That's what I done with my bitch .. Now I ain't saying it was
easy going but we got there in the end .. I have rabbits took
her to local duck pond and generally bonded with her ... On
going thing .. But my new mate says very little for first 9 mths
..I would never lift hand to dog as said tone off voice is
better .. But I recall my friend telling me that he wouldn't
hesitate to with his dog as it will always do as he says cause
he Feds it so he's the boss ...

neilly every dog is different as you no. but imo. for what its
worth springers/cockers need a lot more training than labs so I
would keep a progressive training program from the start always
training never WORKING!. nothing to much as there not mature
enough or phyisically capable as they havnt finished growing.
labs to me can wait a little longer before training begins as
       long as there retrieving.
