Yes, vmax are excellent bullets, as are Sierra Blitzkings. I
haven't tried the Zombies but I'd imagine they're pretty much
like the vmax.
What calibre are you loading? For .204 the 39gn Blitzkings are
excellent, provided your rifle's twist can take them.
In .223 the 53gn vmax are very good and have an excellent
ballistic coefficient which helps them in the crosswinds.

That'll be a 1:12 twist then. Best stay on or below 60gn. Lots
of people will tell you that 60gn is too heavy for a 12" twist
but in the right gun, they're excellent.
If you're initially going to be using factory stuff, I'd be
inclined to go with Hornady Superformance or for better value,
the Hornady soft points (£35 per box of 50).
Good luck with the new rifle.

Thanks Al Dunn. Have been in the' butt party' at Magilligan's
600 metre range for our club - members shooting from 300 metres
and further out using a mix of calibres maybe some .223s
definitely .308s. We were marking hits on targets and patching.
It concentrates the mind having live rounds whizzing over the
top of your head, sometimes falling low and short and kicking
grass and mud round you. Would not like to be a deer or fox.

I have found after wasting loads of money on bullet heads that
the lead/soft tip bullets like sierra game king and lapua sp are
more accurate in my howa as I can seat them closer to the lands,
both projectiles are gibing me 4 shot groups at 100yards of 10mm
or sub 1/2"moa.
The ballistic tips (hornady vmax/sierra blitz king) are longer
bullets and when loading them im 60+thou away from lands to get
them to fit in magazine. Yes I still getting good groups sizes
averages hust below a inch but I know it can do better as I
loaded some up 30thou from lands and hand fed them into chamber
and I was getting 12mm groups.
I know I have gone abit extreme here but it nice to know what
your rifle can realy do.
