I always say For ur first shotgun go for something simple, like
an over or under or side by side. I personally hate over and
unders (never found one I liked) so luckily my first was a side
by side. I dont know how much shooting experience you have but
as its ur first shotgun you've enough to learn without worrying
about ammo fussy semi autos, or how complicated they are when
you pull them to pieces! Also 2nd hand semi autos can throw up
more problems than youd expect due to more moving parts, can be
a nightmare if they havnt been looked after right, and are you
experienced enough to spot how well a gun has been looked after?
Sorry not preaching but alot of people (with good intentions)
will tell you to go for x/y/z make of gun, because they're bomb
proof. My first semi auto was a 2nd hand top name benelli and it
was shite. Stick wih something simple to learn the basics then
go for more complicated, just my 2p worth.

I was the same didn't have a clue I picked a Lanber o/u because
I liked the way it looked and it felt good ( not that I knew
what a bad 1 felt like lol ) but I'm really happy with it

Cheers BC, only ever shot a over under about 10 times (shite at
it lol) but I wouldn't have a clue about how well a gun was
looked after. Would the best bet be to go to a dealer and snoop
around see what I like myself? The semi auto does look good. But
as I said I have only ever shot a over under so I duno what to
look for.

Yeah but I think barber was around the same, and that was for a
shotgun.... I went for a .22 (didn't know that it would take
longer) I should of went for both at the same time but I didn't
have any experience/knowledge at that stage.

Honestly I don't trust dealers, even tho im good friends with a
couple lol but go for a look around definitely and see what's
available. As I said I wouldn't thank you for an over and Under
myself but i wont deny theyre reliable and simple to use. Don't
get me wrong About steering you away from seminautos either, i
have 2 semi autos, so im not anti semi auto, i just know how
ammo fussy and annoying they can be. But don't forget no matter
what you go for you can do a one on/off any time you want so it
doesn't mean ur stuck with that gun for ever, and it's no hassle
to change.

You've been lucky then sharp shooter, as I said I havnt had as
much luck, it's only my personal opinion but I always believe
start simple then work upto more complicated once you have the
basics. I know a guy bought a beretta 2nd hand under the same
idea as yourself and had nothing but trouble, was something to
do with chrome flaking and blocking the gas ports due to not
being cleaned >:(
