Field and target use?

Does anyone know if I get a 22lr for bench rest shooting at the
club if I would also be allowed to take it out shootin/hunting
over the fields? I've been told that the psni won't allow dual
use on guns, so wanted to check if anyone has any experience of
this; also I've been told they won't grant a moderator for range
use, but if they do grant dual use surely a mod could be used on
the rifle at the range as it would be needed for field use?

My .22 CZ is for range and field use. I was also granted a full
bore moderator for range use. The .22 moderator can be used on
the range and in the field. Just my opinion, but I can't see the
police putting shooters in a position where they would have to
apply for another gun, when they already have a gun capable of
covering all bases.

You can get dual use for the .22 but many target rifles are too
heavy to carry too far across fields. People I know have a .22
target rifle and a lighter .22 for rabbit control although it
took a lot of writing. There should be no problem getting a
sound moderator for range use. One range where I shoot has
planning restrictions on it that all rifles should have
moderators so as not to cause annoyance to neighbours. I have a
Marlin .17hmr with a moderator for target use.

Happy days lads, cheers. Thought it was a bit strange myself, I
don't really want a 22 for field use as I've the 222 but don't
see the point in just having it for range use, I know someday
ill want to take it out after rabbits; tho it won't be a proper
anschutz target rifle by any means, like the look of the new
ruger American rifle (updated 77/22) but ill see

Have a friend who shoots rabbits with his .22 and has bought a
smoker so he does nice bits of smoked bunny. He also fishes and
does smoked trout. Hoping for a sample soon. He has a .222 but
has been able to keep his .22 as the larger calibre would blow
the bunnies to bit.

I've a plan for that lol going to try loading lowered power ammo
soon so I can take rabbits with it, just waiting for the powder
I need to come into the local shop, I've a 17hmr at mo but dont
like having two hunting rifles as you never have the one you
need with you lol
