Your NI licence will cover you but you need to check with the
carrier as each boat has different regulations about whether
they will carry ammo - depends on where the boat is registered.
Dont try to hide your ammo as I know people who were caught out
and police were called. You need to tell them about the firearms
and they will check your licence. If your licence is away
getting amended FEB will issue you a covering letter to get you
on the boat if you give them enough notice. Enjoy your trip.

You can take a gun but no ammunition on the fast ferry.
You can take both on the slow ferry.
The ferry company needs to be informed of your intention to
carry firearms at time of booking.

SACS will get you a discount on the boat and they allow you to
carry guns and ammo but make sure you tell them so they's no
probs, as for "extra security precautions" ribbed for her
       pleasure ;)

Last time I did it, they wanted a separate lockable boot, in
which to store the guns, ie a saloon type car as opposed to a
       hatchback.
At the very least, they should be well out of sight.
Also, they specify that ammunition should be in manufacturers'
containers - not easy if you're a home loader. :)

       I being mine 3 times a year
Get there early and inform security when you get to the security
point, they will take u aside check your FAC and serial numbers
and fill out a short form
As for ammo, larne to Troon is the fast ferry and no ammo
allowed as it's an aluminum hull
Larne to cairnryan is fine for ammo as it's a steel hull boat
