HMR 20g Hollow Points

Anyone using these? - I found a few at the back of my ammo
cabinet and tried them - they were very accurate and seemed to
hit hard. I didn't however have enough of them to form an
opinion - have heard some folk comment on their lack of
expansion and that they don't have the explosive impact of 17g
rounds such as the Hornady V-max.

20gr hp are very accurate in my gun and at the end of the day
its all about shot placement.

Can't argue with that - as long as they don't over-penetrate and
go clean through, there is also the issue of possible ricochet?
They are however, as you state, very accurate rounds.

I've seen them punch clean through rabbits and the rabbit
hopping off, they're accurate and better than 17g on fox but I
stick with 17g for rabbit

If its hit in the vitals, it wont hop too far.
HMR bullets are strange in that respect. I've shot rabbits that
were made a mess of & the next one you could struggle to even
find an entrance wound. ???
Personally, I still think they are a bit light for fox.

Only guaranteed way to drop them is a head shot, saw them
hopping off with well placed chest shots, and not being found
because of it.
17 hmr isn't a great fox calibre, well, it does the job within
certain limits but that's why I went for a .222; all I'm saying
is out of 17g and 20g the 20gs are the better option for fox as
they have more punch/penetration than the 17gs; if you're
specifically after fox then get a centrefire :)
